Château Portofino is a private holiday chalet near Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, operated by Cavmir on behalf of the property owner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information when you visit chateauportofino.com.
2. What data we collect
Data you provide
When you email us at stay@chateauportofino.com or submit the enquiry form, we receive the information you choose to include — typically your name, email, travel dates, group size and any questions. We use this solely to reply to your enquiry and manage any resulting booking.
Data collected automatically
Our host (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and request metadata to serve the site and protect it from abuse. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. Analytics stays switched off until you accept via the cookie banner — we use Google Consent Mode, which defaults all analytics and advertising storage to "denied" until you opt in.
Enquiry handling
If you submit an enquiry form, and only after you accept cookies, the details you enter are sent to our booking CRM so we can respond and track your request. If you decline, the form still works by opening your own email app instead.
3. How we use your data
- To respond to booking enquiries and questions you send us.
- With consent, to measure aggregate site usage so we can improve the guides.
- To maintain website performance and security through Cloudflare.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Cookies & consent
We show a cookie-consent banner on your first visit. Until you choose "Accept", no analytics or marketing cookies are set and the CRM script does not load. If you accept, Google Analytics may set analytics cookies; Cloudflare may set essential technical cookies needed to serve and protect the site. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
5. Your rights under the LGPD (Brazil)
If you are in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados grants you the right to confirm whether we process your data; access, correct or delete it; withdraw consent; and complain to the ANPD. Email stay@chateauportofino.com to exercise these rights.
6. Your rights under the GDPR (Europe)
If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase or port your personal data and to object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Contact stay@chateauportofino.com.
7. California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Email stay@chateauportofino.com; we respond within 45 days.
8. Data retention
Email and enquiry correspondence is retained for up to two years, then permanently deleted. We hold only what is necessary to manage your enquiry and any booking.
9. Children's privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; changes appear here with a new effective date.
